Building Future Champions

Building future champions require very strong partnership and hard teamwork of player, coach and parents.

I wanted to reach out and share my opinion of how to shape and mold our students into superb athletes.

The secret to this is commitment and hard work.

I like to keep the formula pretty simple. There are five major categories that all future champions need to work on:

1. Technical skills

2. Athletic skills

3. Strategy and decision making

4. Mental toughness and emotional mastery

This one always raises a few eyebrows, but I need sometimes to frustrate and challenge the kids, and create an emotionally charged atmosphere sometimes, so that we can bring out feelings of anger, frustration, hopelessness etc., and then talk and work our way through them.

5. Math-Play. Putting it all together

At least one practice match per week going forward, and one day to work on shadow-swinging, rehearsing some of the technical aspects.

I know it might seems a little bit overwhelming, but many of them are multiple layers skills, which means that four or five of them must happen at the same time.
